Multicultural Literature For Children and Young Adults


The purpose of this site is to explore multicultural literature and its role in the education of children and young adults. This website was created to fulfill the course requirements at Texas Womens University for LS 5903 with Dr. Sylvia M Vardell

Site Objectives

Enjoy reading multicultural literature.
Knowledge of the goals and purposes of multicultural education and literature.
Familiarity with the major micro cultures within the United States.
Develop a knowledge base of contemporary authors, illustrators, poet of multicultural literature.
Evaluate literature on literary quality.

There will be a total of 25 titles of multicultural childrens and young adult reviewed from the following cultures:

Culture 3: Hispanic/ Latino/a Literature
Culture 4: Native American Literature
Culture 5: Asian Pacific American Literature
Culture 6: Inclusive Literature
